Mixed Feelings…

Last week my xm radio displayed an entirely new lineup.

Many of my familiar presets revealed new channels. Gone were X Country and Fred. XMU and Ethel. And xmcafe.

Almost two years ago, Joe’s fiancee Nalini put a copy of our just released cd in the hands of Bill Evans. Bill was the program director at xmcafe, and he was minding his own business at a show out at Jammin’ Java. But Nalini is an irresistible force, and Bill took the cd, promising not “to throw it away”, as he tucked it into his jacket pocket.

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of hearing yourself for the first time on the radio…and quite frankly you never get tired of it, either. Bill featured us on the station’s new music revue, and went four songs deep from our cd while playing our music in the regular rotation for a year.

Bill Evans and the crew at xmcafe have been cut loose now. We miss them, and are forever grateful for their support of our music and for supporting the music of other artists like us. There’s a finite space for artists to be heard, and it’s just gotten a lot tighter.

That being said, one of the new presets on my xm radio is Channel 51, “The Coffeehouse,” the Sirius station that has been playing “Home” since last summer. In the aftermath of the Sattelite Radio merger, we’re still standing.

We made the cut.
